Unfortunately, the serious threat of Hurricane Dorian warranted cancellation of the rendezvous. Several members had cancelled, as well as one of our speakers, and many members were concerned for the safety of family and boats. However, 3 local couples and 2 other couples who cruised in, did gather for dinner on Friday and Saturday evening.

What a great week everyone had on our Mexican cruise beginning on February 28th. chaired by Cassandra Earle. Ole! After one day at sea, our first port was Cabo San Lucas, where everyone had the choice of taking excursions, or leisurely exploring the city. The next day we enjoyed touring Mazatlan. Our last port was Puerto Vallarta, where, again, everyone had the choice to do whatever they wanted. Some of the gang went on an outdoor adventure that included a donkey ride to the top of a mountain and 9 zip lines back down! Ole! Our next two days were at sea, which is always delightful, as you can do just whatever you choose. You can be sitting by the pool, and before you know it, you are surrounded by 1510 friends; or sitting on the “Promenade” deck, enjoying a cup of coffee and a dessert, and again, within a few minutes, you are joined by friends. Dinner each evening was a great time for us to get together and discuss our day’s activities. We had two tables and were able to change seats every evening, enabling us to have the chance to dine with everyone. The wait staff for our two tables was the best that we have experienced! Our two complimentary cocktail parties are always a great success and enjoyed by everyone. We also received a $75 onboard credit for each cabin, which helped defray the cost of our onboard spending. Ole! One of our highlights , thanks to Bill Houttekier, was a private tour of the bridge by the Captain. He was charming, nice, and very accommodating answering all of our questions for an hour! |
